About Sandy Isles

Our family is growing, and with that comes the bittersweet moment of passing along this beloved beauty to someone who will cherish her just as much as we have. Over the past six years, Joel and I have made unforgettable memories and embarked on incredible adventures aboard this boat, but the time has come for us to embrace a new chapter.

For those seeking exceptional quality, durability, stability, and timeless design, this rare 46-foot motor yacht is an extraordinary find. We've heard there were only a handful of this particular model ever built, making it truly one-of-a-kind.

Plenty of storage exist below the bed as well as multiple drawers located on the starboard and port sides of the stateroom. There are also 2 closets located forward.

    Engine Room

Sandy Isles is powered by 2 Cat 3208 375HP TA. They have been extremely reliable and have been maintained regularly over the past 6 years since owning the boat. The following is a list of engine updates and repairs in addition to regular maintenance.

    1. Transmission oil coolers serviced/tested. New hoses.

    2. All closed cooling hoses replaced.

    3. Both water pumps replaced.

    4. All raw water hoses/clamps replaced.

    5. Aftercoolers pulled and pressure tested/cleaned.

    6. New heat exchanger flanges installed.

    7. Fuel injection pump on port motor replaced internal seal.

    8. Belts/impellers changed every 1-2 years as a precaution.

    9. Coolant drained/system cleaned and refilled coolant.

    10. Transmission oil drained and replaced.

The generator is a Northern Lights 16kw. It was professionally installed in 2021. It has run flawlessly since and is serviced annually at minimum. Impellers are typically changed out at half the suggested interval.

Fuel tanks are not original. They were replaced circa 2008 by a previous owner. They are of high quality and show zero signs of corrosion.

Stabilizer System: The Naid Stabilizer System was installed circa 1998. In 2024 a complete rebuild of the system was undertaken at Saunders Yacht Works. New shafts/seals/hydraulic rams etc replaced. The system performs very well and has proved itself in rough water conditions.

Shaft Seals and Cutlass Bearings: All new shaft seals and cutlass bearings were installed in 2024. The port shaft was replaced in 2024. The starboard shaft was replaced in 2021. Both engines were aligned in 2024 and the ride of the boat is the best since I have owned it with zero vibration issues during cruising.

Water maker: FCT water maker that functions well.

New engine room insulation was placed in 2024.

Thru Hulls: The genset/refrigeration and AC thru hulls have been updated in 2021

other thru hulls have been re-worked and made functional.

    Air conditioning

Sandy Isles has 4 air conditioners. We have used 3 since owning the boat and have not replaced the 4th non-functioning unit. The salon had a new condenser unit in 2024. The master had a new condenser/blower in 2020. The bow unit was placed in 2015. The three AC's in use work without issue. All units are split systems.

    Master Stateroom: 12k

    Salon: 16k btu

    Bow: 12k btu

    Airlock filter System Salon

The 4th AC(not functioning) is located under the helm in the flybridge. It provides extra AC to the Salon. We have not found the need for an additional AC to cool the boat under most circumstances. Instead of removing I have left in place with all wiring and copper line sets untouched.

    Plumbing

There are 2 Raritan Toilets that have been installed over the past 3 years. Both function well. The holding tank is approx 30 gallons. There are overboard discharges and a macerator pump for the holding tank to be used when applicable. Sanitation lines have been replaced as needed when installing new toilets.

Freshwater Pump New 2020. Groco PSR

    Electrical/Safety/Ground tackle

As noted above Sandy Isles is equipped with a 16kw Northern Lights Generator installed in 2021. There is a Xantrex 3000 watt inverter connected to a 300 amp hour lithium battery (lithium ion phosphate). All outlets are wired to the inverter as well as the ice maker/freezer under the helm. All new battery switches with associated new wiring and bus bars was installed in 2024. There is a Xantrex 40v battery charger (new 2021) connected to the 2 starting batteries for the engines. The start batteries are 8D AGM. They can also serve as a house battery backup.

    Additional Items:

    New EPIRB in 2022.

Fireboy Engine room automatic fire extinguisher system.

    4 additional fire extinguishers

Carbon monoxide and smoke detectors current and updated.

    Electronics

Sandy Isles is equipped with a Garmin 4212 at each helm. There is a radar that is new as of 2020. The boat has built in AIS transponder as well. 2 VHF radios are located at each helm. The autopilot is a Raytheon that is integrated with the GPS. A new sensor for the autopilot was placed in 2021. Both GPS units work without issue and the autopilot functions well.

Starlink added 2022. Functions well with no issues.

    Soft goods

The interior has been updated with new upholstery. New blinds have been placed throughout the entire boat. The flybridge has a new woven vinyl fabric that is installed over the flybridge non-skid. All upholstery on the flybridge was replaced 2021 and still looks new. A new flybridge top cover was installed in 2025.  New Custom front window covers and hatch covers were made with 90% visibility to let light through, but block out heat.

    Deck

There is a midship entry on port and starboard.

Front and Rear Shore power connections

City Fresh Water hookup at the bow

Saltwater wash down at the windlass

Freshwater wash down with hot/cold at the stern entry by ladder.

    Mantus Anchor 85lbs

    New 200ft chain 2023

Additional 60 lb anchor as backup.

    Lofrans Windlass

All windshield wipers/arms replaced/rebuilt. One motor replaced. All wipers function.

Lexan Windshield replaced in 2024 on flybridge

A recent bottom job was performed in Oct 2024. There has also been new varnish on the handrails and stern. The teak decks on the front of the boat and down the sides were refinished in 2023 with new caulking, screws and bungs. The back deck teak decks have not been refinished. They DO NOT leak but they are in need of refinishing or replacement. The front teak decks from the steps forward look great and the back deck can be made to look the same. However our idea was to have them removed and non-skid placed. We have decided to hold on that and let the new owner decide their own plan. We have considered this cost for the new owner when pricing Sandy Isles.

New teak swim platform installed 2022.

The Davit is a Nick Jackson Davit. There is a new wired remote and the davit was powder coated new in 2024. There is also a spare winch (brand new in box) that comes with the boat as a backup.

    Fuel Consumption and Performance

Sandy isles is typically cruised between 8-9 knots. This tends to occur at 1200-1400 rpms. The estimate on  fuel consumption based on multiple trips with both engines running at these rpm's and the genset also running is 8-10 gallons per hour. I tend to use 10gph in estimating fuel range which I think is at the high end. The published fuel capacity is 600 gallons but measurements on the initial survey of the boat indicate that the new fuel tanks may be closer to 650 gallons total. To be safe I typically use 500 miles as my max fuel range if needed. However I do think this is very conservative and this number leaves at least 20% in reserve.

The boat is a semi-displacement hull which will run up to 17-18 knots depending on conditions. This is typically 2400 rpms. The boat is only run at this speed when exercising the engines. She runs very smooth since the overhaul in 2024 of all the running gear. Engine temps are also stable. There are trim tabs on the boat but they are not currently working. I have not found the need to have them repaired but the system needs new hydraulic hoses and possibly cylinders to be back in service if desired. They make no effect on our normal cruising speed.

Tender Optional (Not included in price)

The tender is a 2021 Highfield 360 FCT with a Suzuki 25hp engine. She is in very good condition and has been maintained. Typical causing speed with 2 adults is 18-20 mph.
